Queer Performance Festival 2026 Returns to Berlin
Berlin has long been recognized as one of the world's most important capitals of queer culture. A city shaped by artistic freedom, political openness, and a deep-rooted tradition of self-expression, Berlin continues to offer space for experimentation, creativity, and community.
From underground clubs and performance venues to drag stages and activist movements, the German capital has become a living laboratory where queer identities are constantly being reimagined. It is a city where diversity is not simply celebrated—it is lived.
Now, one of Berlin’s most exciting queer cultural initiatives is preparing for its highly anticipated return.
Following a successful and groundbreaking debut in 2025, the Queer Performance Festival (QPF) is back for its second edition on 7 November 2026 at the iconic Theater im Delphi, bringing together artists, performers, activists, and audiences for an immersive exploration of queer identity, visibility, and resistance.
From a Long-Held Dream to a Growing Queer Cultural Movement
When performance artist and festival director Danae Yolanda Diettrich spoke with German queer magazine SIEGESSÄULE in 2025, she described the festival as the realization of a long-held vision:
"It was a long-awaited desire to create a space for interdisciplinary queer performance."
Just one year later, that vision has evolved into a growing cultural platform that is quickly establishing itself as one of Berlin’s most exciting spaces for queer artistic expression.
The Queer Performance Festival was created not only to showcase performances but also to build connections between communities, disciplines, and generations of queer artists. Its mission is rooted in collaboration, inclusion, and the amplification of voices that have historically been marginalized within the performing arts.
“404 Identity Not Found”: Reimagining Queerness in a Digital World
The theme for the 2026 edition, "404 Identity Not Found," speaks directly to the realities shaping queer lives today.
As artificial intelligence, algorithmic systems, online censorship, and political backlash increasingly influence how identities are seen, categorized, and controlled, queer people are navigating new questions about visibility, belonging, and self-definition.
The festival invites audiences to examine what happens when identity becomes fragmented, misrepresented, or erased by digital systems. More importantly, it asks how queer communities continue to create new ways of existing beyond rigid labels and imposed categories.
Rather than presenting identity as fixed, the festival embraces it as something fluid, evolving, and collectively imagined.
Where Drag, Ballroom, Music, Theatre, and Circus Meet
One of the defining strengths of the Queer Performance Festival is its commitment to artistic multiplicity.
The festival brings together performers from a wide range of disciplines, creating a unique intersection of art forms rarely seen under one roof. From ballroom culture and contemporary dance to drag performance, spoken word, experimental theatre, live music, and contemporary circus, QPF embraces the richness and complexity of queer creativity.

In many ways, the festival reflects the evolution of Berlin’s queer cultural landscape itself.
Over the past decade, drag has experienced a remarkable renaissance across Berlin and throughout Europe. What was once considered an underground art form has become a powerful vehicle for storytelling, activism, and community building.
QPF places that spirit of innovation at the center of its programming.
The Main Showcase Takes Center Stage
The festival’s headline event will take place on 7 November 2026 at Theater im Delphi, transforming the historic venue into a space where art and activism merge.
This year's confirmed lineup includes:
Corazón (Drag Artist)
Lihla (Musician)
Mandhla (Ballroom Artist and Singer)
Ṣịkẹmi (Spoken Word and Video Artist)
Ruiqi Wang (Interdisciplinary Theatre and Music Artist)
D-Dur Dykes (Choir Group)
Additional artists and performances are expected to be announced.
Audiences can expect live performances designed to blur traditional boundaries between stage and audience, public and private, visibility and resistance.
Free Workshops and Community Participation
The festival experience begins a day earlier, on 6 November, with a series of free community workshops and an open stage.
These events are designed to encourage participation, skill-sharing, creative exchange, and grassroots artistic expression. By opening its doors beyond traditional performance spaces, the festival reinforces its commitment to accessibility, collaboration, and community-led cultural production.
Further details about the workshops will be announced closer to the event.
More Than a Festival—A Space for Collective Resistance
At a time when queer visibility faces increasing challenges in many parts of the world, festivals like QPF offer something increasingly valuable: space.
Space to create.
Space to question.
Space to celebrate.
And space to imagine futures that are more inclusive, more equitable, and more free.
Queer Performance Festival is not simply presenting performances—it is creating a living archive of contemporary queer experiences. Through art, technology, storytelling, and community, it demonstrates that queer identities cannot be reduced to algorithms, categories, or systems of control.
They continue to evolve, resist, and thrive.
And this November, Berlin once again becomes the stage for that collective act of imagination.
