Björk Brings an Immersive Art Experience to Oulu

But Don’t Expect a Traditional Concert. One of the world’s most innovative artists is heading to northern Finland this November, but not in the way many fans might expect.
Icelandic icon Björk will present a major audiovisual exhibition in Oulu as part of the Lumo Art & Tech Festival 2026, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience her creative universe beyond music. Alongside the exhibition, she will also perform a special DJ set, creating an intimate listening experience rather than a large-scale live concert.
A Journey Through Björk’s Artistic World
Opening on 13 November at Kauppakortteli Pekuri, the exhibition will showcase three acclaimed audiovisual works:
Ancestress
Sorrowful Soil
Björk Orkestral
The installation invites audiences into Björk’s multidisciplinary world, where music, visual storytelling, technology and emotion merge into a deeply immersive experience.
The exhibition will remain open through the end of December and will be presented in the same venue hosting Fotografiska Tallinn’s acclaimed PLAY exhibition, allowing visitors to explore both with a single ticket.
Not a Concert — A Curated DJ Experience
For those hoping to see Björk perform live, organizers have emphasized that this event is not a traditional concert.
Instead, Björk will take over Tarkastamo on 15 November for a carefully curated DJ set, sharing music that inspires her personally. The session promises a journey across genres, cultures and sounds from around the world, reflecting the artist’s lifelong passion for musical discovery.
Rather than performing her own catalogue on stage, Björk will guide audiences through a selection of tracks chosen by her, creating a unique communal listening experience.
This format has become an increasingly important part of her artistic work, with recent DJ appearances at international cultural events including the Venice Biennale and exhibitions in Reykjavík.
Part of Oulu’s Cultural Celebration
Björk’s participation is one of the highlights of this year’s Lumo Art & Tech Festival, a multidisciplinary event exploring the intersection of art, technology and contemporary culture.
The festival forms part of the wider Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme and will bring together international artists, experimental musicians and creative innovators from around the world.
The accompanying TAR Festival, running from 11–15 November, will also feature respected names from the global experimental music scene, further strengthening Oulu’s position as a destination for groundbreaking cultural experiences.

Tickets for Björk’s DJ set go on sale: 1 October through Lippu.fi at 10:00 (EEST).
A standard ticket costs €48 + booking fees (from €1.50 + 0.65% of the order www.lippu.fi A TAR Festival combined ticket is also available, including a ticket to Björk’s DJ set and tickets to the TAR Festival from 13–15 November. Visitors can choose between:
A standard ticket for the DJ set.
A combined festival pass including access to both the DJ event and the TAR Festival programme.
