Homotaidemarkkinat Returns to Helsinki Pride Weekend
Artists and Audiences for a Pride Weekend Kick-Off at Hobo Hotel
What is gay art after Tom of Finland?
That’s the question explored by Homotaidemarkkinat (The Gay Art Market), a vibrant event bringing together queer artists, fresh perspectives, and a diverse selection of artistic expressions as part of the Helsinki Pride weekend programme.
Taking place at Pride House inside Hobo Hotel, located in the heart of Helsinki, Homotaidemarkkinat offers visitors a unique opportunity to discover contemporary queer artists, engage in conversations with them, and purchase artworks directly from their creators.
More than an art market, the event serves as a welcoming meeting place for everyone interested in queer culture, creating a relaxed afterwork atmosphere centered around art, music, and community.
“Homotaidemarkkinat aims to broaden perceptions of what gay art is today. Tom of Finland is an important part of queer art history, but contemporary queer art is incredibly diverse and constantly evolving. We want to highlight new voices, different forms of artistic expression, and creators who are shaping today’s queer culture,” say the event organizers.
The event is organized by artists and cultural producers Aleksi Kolmonen and Eino Nurmisto, who have been actively working to increase the visibility of queer art and its creators in Finland. Homotaidemarkkinat continues their efforts to create a community-driven, accessible, and artist-led event.

Support Local Queer Artists
As Homotaidemarkkinat continues to grow, so does the visibility of queer artists, creators, and entrepreneurs shaping the future of our communities. Supporting local queer talent goes far beyond making a purchase—it means following their work, sharing their stories, talking about their projects, and helping amplify their creativity.
Every artwork collected, every social media share, every recommendation to a friend, and every conversation about queer art helps build a stronger, more visible, and more connected community.
This summer, bring your friends, discover new artists, and experience the energy of one of Helsinki Pride’s most exciting cultural events. Homotaidemarkkinat is more than an art market—it is a celebration of queer creativity, community, and the power of showing up for one another.
